HISTORY OF NIGERIAN CADET NETWORK

The Nigerian Cadet Network formerly known as National Cadet Corps of Nigeria is a Youth Uniformed Voluntary Non Governmental Organization established in 2013 in Ogun State by Youth development Proponent and schemer, Aux. Amb. Lt. Gen. Joshua G Fatoye


The Nigerian Cadet Network is affiliated with other National Cadet Corps Organisations in other common wealth countries around the world and is affiliated with National Youth Council Of Nigeria, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry Of Education. 


The Cadet Corps History in Nigeria dates back to 1909 when Nigeria was still under British Colonialists, the University Officer Training Corps was established to provide a scheme offering semi military training in colleges and institutions but later on, the UOTC was performing below standard required. 


A committee headed by the then Governor General, Sir Lord Lugard and Sultan Hassan danMu'azu recommended the Cadet Corps Organization to be established in schools and colleges at National level. The Cadet Corps was established in 1914 when the Army Cadet Corps Act was accepted by the Governor General. 

The first cadet company was established in Nagata College, Sokoto.


During the regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo in 1976 with the help of other military generals a slow rise back up and made proper establishment of Nigeria Army Cadet Corps by establishing the Cadet company in Nigeria which is at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos. 


On the 22nd of June 1990 the Naval Cadet Corps was commissioned by Commander SO Aforlayon Commanding officer NNS Olokun now NNC Becrofy.


For more effectiveness and professionalism, The National Cadet Corps Nigeria as named and organized by Aux. Amb. Lt. Gen. Joshua G Fatoye on 14th September, 2013, structured the NCCN to cater for both community and institutions. 

In 2021, under the leadership of the General Officer Commanding, Aux. Amb. Lt. Gen. Joshua G Fatoye, the Cadet NETWORK (Community Auxiliary Development & Effective Transformation Network) was registered under the Federal Government of Nigeria through Corporate Affairs Commision, Abuja having its command in states of the federation.
